So very very sad. :( too bad they were unable to protect the islands from 1 species that is way overpopulated…humans need to just leave some places alone!

@EoceneRoxton I thought there was 39 of his kind brought from somewhere else in the world, that were introduced to his area in attempts to fix the population issue.
I heard they’re taking steps to get them back into existence. Like they killed off the overeating goat population.

@chukuchukz either you are terribly uninformed, or your comment suggesting that he is not lonely, is not funny. Deriving humor and pleasure (that includes the 40+ people who liked your comment) from the loss of a unique lifeform illustrates the the kind of egotistically arrogant uninformed thinking that leads our species to abuse the resources it procures, and the laziness of our willingness to address how we impact the environment, much less do something about it.

@chukuchukz they are not of his subspecies, his mating with them would produce a useless mongrel hybrid.

@chukuchukz It isn’t the same species. He is the only one left. They try for him to breed with similar species to try and keep at least part of his species alive.
